Mrs. is proud to be showcasing works by Alexandra Barth, Oona Brangam-Snell, and Robert Zehnder for Kiaf SEOUL, on view September 6 - 10, 2023.
Alexandra Barth’s work explores interiors rich with human life, left uncannily empty. Uniform furniture recalls utopian ideals and post-war American design, creating a hushed dystopian ambience. These paintings render the unnoticed objects designing our daily lives in lavish, somber detail reflecting the intersection between architecture and the human world.
Our Kiaf Highlight artist, Oona Brangam-Snell explores the tension in natural and urban environments, and how technological mastery and rationality collide with man’s unstable, atavistic drives. Her work courts pop mysticism and echo millennial flirtations with the occult, both comforting and uncomfortable, softly comic but puzzling, cryptic, dark, and obstinate.
Robert Zehnder’s works re-envision a landscape devouring itself through multi-perspective compositions of intersecting vignettes without inhabitants or objects. Engaged by anxiety and uncertainty, these fictitious maps are approached cartographically. An un-trustworthy potential lurks in each of these post-digital works.
