Mrs. is pleased to present a solo presentation of new paintings by California-based artist Lily Ramírez at The Armory Show, September 24–27, 2026. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, Ramírez developed a keen ability to recognize beauty in often-overlooked spaces, a perspective that informs her artistic practice today. 

The artist’s evocative works on canvas offer a striking interplay of texture and abstraction, inviting viewers into a deeply intimate and emotionally resonant space. Ramírez’s thick layers of paint form dynamic, landscape-like compositions, often resembling interconnected aerial views, with gestural strokes of color creating a sense of flowing, organic movement. Beneath the intricate compositions, her work carries deeper narratives, subtly encoded in the evocative titles of each piece—titles that poetically intertwine with core memories from her own life.

Family and individual experience play a pivotal role in her artistic process; Ramírez’s landscapes become meditations on memory, connection, and the ways in which different aspects of one's life intertwine. Just as the layers of paint build up on the canvas, Ramírez’s work reflects how her emotional and physical landscapes are shaped by familial bonds and personal history. Her gestural mark-making acts as a private codex, a mysterious secret language embedded within her art. The energy and rhythm of her painting echoes the emotive undercurrents of her narratives, with subtle messages that only the most curious viewers may uncover. Each piece serves as a reflection of both geographical and internal landscapes.

Lily Ramírez (b. 1991, Los Angeles) received a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in 2013. Her work has been exhibited at The Dallas Art Fair, Dallas, TX; NADA Miami, Miami, FL, and in solo and group exhibitions at RHODES, London, UK; Sea View, Simchowitz, Various Small Fires, Charlie James, and Phillips, Los Angeles, CA; Mrs., Maspeth, NY; Reynolds Gallery, Richmond, VA; and RAM, Bakersfield, CA. Her work has been featured in CULTURED and Artforum. Ramírez continues to live and work in Los Angeles.
